Why is Fingerprint capture window not present when the Log on Authentication toolbar is displayed?

    Answer:

When using fingerprint authentication, three failed log on attempts will prevent the fingerprint capture window from being displayed the next time Windows is started. This will make it impossible to log on to Windows using a fingerprint from a registered finger. It will still be possible to log on by typing the Windows password.

To make the fingerprint capture window available again, click the fingerprint icon in the Log on Authentication toolbar. Once this is done, it should again be possible to authenticate and log on to Windows using a fingerprint from a registered finger.
