How to control a Power Point presentation with a Nintendo Wii remote via Bluetooth?

  1. Test Environment

  2. Basic Toshiba Bluetooth stack setup for Windows 7

    • Download and install the latest Toshiba Bluetooth stack which you can find in the download section of the following website: http://www.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/
    • You should see a blue/white (or green, if Bluetooth is in use) Bluetooth icon in the system tray. 

       

    • If not, modify the view as shown in the following picture.





  3. Setup a Bluetooth connection to the Wii Remote Control

    1. Switch the Wii Remote into Pairing Mode

      • Press (1) and (2) key at once.



      • The LEDs below start flashing in blue.
      • Now the Wii Remote Control is in pairing mode

    2. Right mouse click on the Bluetooth system tray icon and select "Add New Connection"



    3. Select your Nintendo Remote Control from the list and click Next.



      REMARK:
      Don't wait to long before you continue otherwise you may get a "Detection of service failed" message. The Remote Control remains discoverable only for a limited period of time.

    4. Now you can see a connected Nintendo Remote Control icon in the Bluetooth Settings window.

    5. Right click on the Nintendo Remote Control icon and select Disconnect from the context menu.



    6. Click Yes to confirm the disconnection.



    7. The Bluetooth device setup is complete, please close the window.




  4. Configure your system to remote control your Power Point Application

  5. Connect the configured remote control

    1. Press the (1) and (2) key at once on the Wii remote control.



    2. The LEDs below start flashing in blue.

    3. Double click on the Bluetooth system tray icon.



    4. The Bluetooth Settings window appears.

    5. Double click on the Nintendo icon.



    6. Click OK to connect.



    7. The Nintendo Remote Control is connected now.



    8. Close the window.

  7. Disconnect the configured remote control

    1. Click on the Bluetooth system tray icon



    2. Click on Disconnect Nintendo ... from the connected devices list.



    3. Click Yes on the popup window, to confirm the disconnection



    4. The remote control is disconnected.
      (You verify it by a click on the Bluetooth system tray icon. The Nintendo device should no longer be shown in the connected devices list.)
