      • The following start screen appears:

      • Press the  Menu key to open the Home screen

    2. Verify that Bluetooth is on

      Home screen:  Bluetooth icon indicates that Bluetooth is on

  3. Setup on PC side

    1. Basic Toshiba Bluetooth stack setup for Windows 7

      • Download and install the latest Toshiba Bluetooth stack which you can find in the download section of the following website: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/

      • You should see a blue/white (or green, if Bluetooth is in use) Bluetooth icon in the system tray.

      • If not, then modify the view as shown in the following picture.

    2. Setup a Dial-up Networking (DUN) connection

      • In the system tray, right click the Bluetooth icon

      • Select Add New Connection.

      • Select your BlackBerry from the list and click Next

      • In the next steps we need to enter a passkey or just to confirm it if already one was proposed.
        If you are asked to input a passkey, input any e.g. 71016.

      • Enter the same passkey on the BlackBerry e.g. 71016

      • If a passkey was already proposed, just confirm with Yes

      • The same passkey will be shown on the BlackBerry. Click Yes to confirm it.

      • Select the Don't ask this again check box. To accept the connection, click Yes.

      • Click Advanced Modem Settings...

      • The detected 3G/GPRS string should be shown. If this field is empty, check the website of your ISP provider for the suitable 3G/GPRS string and enter it here.
        Click OK.

      • Click Next.

      • Enter user name and password if these fields are empty. Check the website of your ISP provider for the suitable values in this case.
        Otherwise just click Finish.

      • The Bluetooth Settings window shows now a BlackBerry DUN icon for our new configuration.

      • Open the Windows Device Manager:
        -> Click Start
        -> Click on Search Box in Start menu
        -> Input devmgmt.msc and press Enter

      • Device Manager
        -> Click on Modems.
        -> Click on Standard 33600 bps Modem.
        -> Right click on Standard 33600 bps Modem.
        -> Click on Properties.
        -> Click on Advanced.

      • Delete all characters in front of the 3G/GPRS string "+CGDCONT...", because some BlackBerry phones have problems with it.

      Note:
      You may encounter a connection error if something is wrong with this string later on.

      Tip for IT administrators:
      The removal of the "&D2" string can be done automatically by a modification of the Bluetooth stack before the installation.
      In order to do this just add the following line under the [Bluetooth Settings] section of the TosBtUtl.ini file: IsDunAddD2Cmd4InitCmd = Disable

      • Double click the BlackBerry DUN icon to establish the Internet connection.

      • Click on the Network location which suits to your environment.

      • Click Close.

      • The BlackBerry DUN icon shows a connection symbol to indicate that the connection is established.

      • Right click on the BlackBerry DUN icon and select Disconnect from the context menu.

      • The connection symbol disappears again to indicate the disconnected status.

      • Close the Bluetooth Settings window. If you would like to open it again, just double click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray.

      • The setup is complete.

    3. Connect to the Internet

      • Open your Web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer)

      • Select your BlackBerry DUN connection and click Connect.

      • The DUN profile window pops up if the configured start website cannot be reached.
      • Verify the headline of this window that you are using the right DUN profile.
      • Click Dial.

      • Browse the Internet.

      • The double arrow right to the Bluetooth symbol indicates an established Bluetooth connection on the BlackBerry and the headline displays the status Modem Mode Enabled

    4. Disconnect the DUN connection

      • Click on Bluetooth system tray icon and then click on Disconnect BlackBerry

      • To disconnect, click Yes.

      • The double arrow right to the Bluetooth symbol disappears again to indicate the disconnected status and the Modem Mode Enabled status message of the headline also disappears.

  4. Troubleshooting

    • Problem: Connection error. Specific port is not open
      Solution: Verify and correct your 3G/GPRS string

    • Problem: Service not supported.
      Cause: Mobile phone does not support Bluetooth DUN service. If your company gave the BlackBerry to you, it may be restricted by your administrator.
