How to sort the TV channels using the channel editor "Toshiba Edit"

If you have one of the following Toshiba TV models, you may need to sort your channel list comfortable on your Windows PC by using the Toshiba channel editor software (Toshiba Edit).

  • Supported models: (please make sure to use the latest version "1.04" from 10.12.2014)
  • RL / SL / TL / UL / VL / WL / YL 8xx  (2010 / 2011)
  • RL / SL / TL / UL / VL / WL / XL / YL 9xx  (2012)
  • 55ZL1  (2011)
  • 55ZL2  (2012)
  • L23xx / W23xx (2013)
  • L43xx / W43xx , L63xx / M63xx, L73xx, M83xx, L93xx / M93xx  (2013)
  • L24xx* / W24xx (2014)
  • L64xx , L74xx / M74xx (2014)

* Please notice: model "L2456" is not supported !

After you have downloaded and installed the "Toshiba Edit" software on your PC, a few simple steps are necessary to sort your TV channels using the software.


Part 1: Copying the channel list to a USB flash drive

  1. Turn on TV
  2. Insert a empty USB flash drive (Fat or FAT32) into one of the TVs USB ports
  3. Press the "Mute" button on the remote control. "Mute" is showing on the screen
  4. Press and hold the "Mute" button on the remote control. Wait for 2 seconds
  5. Press "volume down" button on the TV (located on the left side)
  6. On screen, choose "TV to USB" and export the channel list to the USB flash drive

On the USB flash drive the following files are located:

  • user_setting_backup.bin
  • user_setting.bin
  • sat.bin
  • dtv_cmdb_ml_cable.bin
  • dtv_cmdb_ml_air.bin
  • dtv_cmdb_3.bin
  • dtv_cmdb_2.bin
  • dtv_cmdb_1.bin
  • dtv_cmdb_0.bin
  • Coredump.826.gz
  • atv_cmdb_cable.bin
  • atv_cmdb.bin

Part 2: Preparing the files for the editing software

  1. Use a zip software (for example 7zip), to add all files, which have been copied to the USB flash drive (step 1), into one zip file (must be a *.zip file)
  2. Open the "Toshiba Edit" software
  3. Click on "File" --> "Open" and load the *.zip file
  4. You can sort the channels with simply drag and drop them to the desired position (for further information, click on the "Help" button)
  5. When you finished sorting the channels, click on "File" --> "Save" and save your changes (*.zip file must be saved on the USB flash drive).

Part 3: Load your edited files back to your TV

  1. On the USB flash drive, unzip the before created *.zip file (rewrite existing files)
  2. Plug the USB flash drive into a USB port of the TV
  3. Press the "Mute" button on the remote control. "Mute" is showing on the screen
  4. Press and hold the "Mute" button on the remote control. Wait for 2 seconds
  5. Press "volume down" button on the TV (located on the left side)
  6. On screen, choose "USB to TV" and import the channel list to the USB flash drive
  7. Wait until you get the copy process has been successful executed
  8. The TV set will automatically reboot when you exit the menu (by pressing the "Exit" or "Back" button on your remote control)
  9. After the reboot the edited channel list is used

  • Move, delete and rename channels
