A BIOS update is a relative simple operation and can be carried out by most competent computer users.
Note: The BIOS files are machine specific. Please take care - you have to use the correct Bios file for your machine |
Notebook BIOS update:
Prior to upgrading the BIOS please ensure the following:
- Notebook is undocked.
- Notebook is connected to the mains.
- Notebook must be in boot mode and not resume mode.
- Remove any connected Hardware like PC Cards, USB devices...
- Do not switch off during the BIOS update!
There are five different BIOS update processes. Please find detail update information below:
BIOS update process 1:
- Download the BIOS from the Toshiba BIOS download section on www.toshiba-tro.de for your Toshiba notebook and make sure to select the Version which is corresponding to the operating system your are currently using.
- Extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a temporary folder.
- Make sure that all open files are saved and all applications are closed.
- Change into the temporary folder and check if there is a "BIOS" (Windows Batch File) file (BIOS.bat).
- If no, please check the BIOS update process 2, 3, 4 or 5.
- If yes, double click on the extracted BIOS.bat (Windows Batch File) file in the temporary folder.

- The following Windows appears:

- The BIOS update process starts automatically.

- When the update process is finished the system will restart automatically.

- While Toshiba LOGO screen is displayed, press [F2] key to start BIOS Setup Menu.
- Check Time and date wether they are correct. If not, they should be adjusted to the correct values.
- Press [F9] key and choose "Yes" to set the BIOS to default settings. Press [F10] key and choose "Yes" to save the settings.
- Update process finished.
BIOS update process 2:
- Check in the temporarly folder if there is a "setup??" Application file (setup??.exe) and a *.rom file.
- If no, please check the BIOS update process 3, 4 or 5.
- If yes, Execute the extracted *.exe file in the temporary folder.

- The following Windows appears:

Click on "Start"

The BIOS update process starts automatically.

- When the update process is finished the system will shutdown automatically.

- Start the notebook, while Toshiba LOGO screen displays, press [F2] key to start BIOS Setup Menu.
- Check time and date wether they are correct. If not, they should be adjusted to the correct values.
- Press [F9] key and choose "Yes" to set the BIOS to default settings. Press [F10] key and choose "Yes" to save the settings.
- Update process finished.
BIOS update process 3:
- Check in the temporarly folder if there is only a "Application" (*.exe ) file.
- If no, please check the BIOS update process 1 or 2.
- If yes, Execute the extracted Application (*exe) file in the temporary folder.
- The BIOS update process may look different if the update process did not match to the pictures below please check BIOS update process 4.

- The following Windows appears:

- The current BIOS version and the version to install will be displayed.
Click on "Yes" to proceed.

- Read the text and click on "OK" to proceed.

- The BIOS update process starts.

- When the update process is finished the system will restart automatically.

- While Toshiba LOGO screen displays, press [ESC] key to start BIOS Setup Menu.
- Check time and date wether they are correct. If no, they should be adjusted to the correct values.
- Press [Home] key and to set the BIOS to default settings. Press [End] key and to save the settings and exit.
- Update process finished.
BIOS update process 4:
- Check in the temporarly folder if there is only a "Application" (*.exe ) file.
- If no, please check the BIOS update process 1 or 2.
- If yes, Execute the extracted Application (*exe) file in the temporary folder.

- The BIOS update process starts automatically.


- When the update process is finished the system will shutdown automatically.
- Start the notebook, while Toshiba LOGO screen displays, press [F2] key to start BIOS Setup Menu.
- Check time and date wether they are correct. If no, they should be adjusted to the correct values.
- Press [F9] key and choose "Yes" to set the BIOS to default settings. Press [F10] key and choose "Yes" to save the settings.
- Update process finished.
BIOS update process 5:
- Check in the temporarly folder if there is only a "Application" (*.exe ) file.
- If no, please check the BIOS update process 1 or 2.
- If yes, execute the extracted Application (*exe) file in the temporary folder.

- The notebook will restart..
During the shutdown process the BIOS will update automatically.
- When the Toshiba LOGO screen displays, press [F2] key to start BIOS Setup Menu.
- Check wether time and date are correct. If not, they should be adjusted to the correct values.
- Press [F9] key and choose "Yes" to set the BIOS to default settings. Press [F10] key and choose "Yes" to save the settings.
- Update process finished.
