ISSUE OVERVIEW
How to adjust the screen brightness on a Toshiba notebook

RESOLUTION

Given that the screen is the most power-hungry component of the system, our engineers take great pains to tweak the screen brightness to the maximum that a reasonable battery life will allow - i.e. as close to a standalone monitor as possible.

Having said that, it is possible for the user to adjust - to some degree - the brightness of the screen both under battery usage and on the mains.

This is done through the Toshiba Power Saver, which are accessible through the Control Panel or via the 'light bulb' icon in the Icon tray at the bottom right of the screen. The user can adjust the screen brightness both in the mains-powered condition, and at different stages of the battery life - so that, for example, the screen can be maximum brightness when the system has 100% battery power left, and dimmed as the battery reaches 75%, 50% or 25% of the full charge.

For a quick adjustment of the screen brightness you can also use the key combinations Fn+F6 (darker) and Fn+F7 (brighter). Adjusting the screen brightness this way will not change the configurations set in the Toshiba Power Saver.
