ISSUE OVERVIEW
Most Toshiba notebooks have a built-in microphone. If the microphone's input is played back by the notebook's speakers, high pitched feedback noise, might be generated as the speaker output is picked up by the microphone, amplified and sent back to the speakers, In order to avoid this, playback of the microphone is disabled per default.
 

RESOLUTION

Check the microphone playback settings in the [Windows Playback] Volume Control:

Open the Volume Control


Open the Windows Volume Control from the Start Menu

or by double-clicking the Volume icon in the Taskbar's notification area

Feedback can occur if the Mute box is unchecked, i.e. playback is enabled for the microphone, especially when set to a high playback level.

Note:
If the microphone does not show up in your [Playback] Volume Control, click Options, Properties, check the Microphone and then click OK.

In order to change the recording volume of the microphone, you have to adjust the microphone volume in the [Recording] Control not the [Playback] Volume Control

Click Options, Properties, select Recoding and check the input devices you want to configure, then click OK. In the Recoding Control check the Select box for the microphone.

Now you can adjust the input volume as required.
