CPU (Processor) speed may be reduced on Portege X20W-D series in tablet, tent or clamshell mode

Issue

Decreasing CPU speed in high performance peak times, using CPU frequency throttling with the help of enhanced Intel Speedstep technology, may appear quite often when using the Portege X20W-D convertible in tablet, tent or clamshell mode.


Resolution (short):

Included in the release of BIOS Version 3.20, decrease of CPU speed in the mentioned display modes, has been
reduced to a minimum on Portege X20W-D series, enhancing overall performance of the PC.

 

To improve overall performance of the PC in tablet, tent or clamshell mode, 
please update the BIOS to version 3.20 or later.
