How to upgrade from Microsoft Windows Vista to Microsoft Windows 7?


    Summary:

There are two different ways, how to Upgrade to Microsoft Windows 7.
The first way is available for models which are purchased with genuine Windows Vista between June 26, 2009 and January 31, 2010.
And the second way is for older models, where Toshiba offers limited driver support.

  1. Upgrade Instructions for models which are purchased with genuine Windows Vista between June 26, 2009 and January 31, 2010.



    Upgrade Guide with Toshiba Win7 Driver Upgrade DVD and Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade


    1. Toshiba recommends a clean installation of Microsoft Windows Vista.
      Please store all your Data to an external HDD or other storage Media and recover your notebook.

    2. After this, the drivers for the upgrade can be installed. Please insert the Toshiba Windows 7 Driver and Software Upgrade disc.
      This disc contains a tool which automatically uninstalls all spuriously moduls and afterwards it installs all necessary drivers for Windows 7.
      While this process is running, the computer may reboot sometimes.
      If any messages appear on the screen, please follow them and take actions if needed.

    3. If the driver installation is completed, please insert the Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade CD and start the Upgrade.

    Upgrade Guide without Toshiba Win7 Driver Upgrade DVD


    1. Toshiba recommends a clean installation of Microsoft Windows Vista.
      Please store all your Data to an external HDD or other stoarage Media and recover your notebook.

    2. Download and install the latest BIOS Update for your Notebook.
      For example the EMEA BIOS download page (layout in english language): http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_bios.jsp

    3. After the Recovery-process, it is stritly recommended to uninstall the following components on Windows Vista, if they are installed on your PC:
      • Marvel LAN Driver
      • TOSHIBA Disc Creator
      • TOSHIBA Gesture Controller
      • TOSHIBA HDD Protection
      • TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor
      • YUAN DVB-T/ATSC Tuner Driver
      • LaLaVoice
      • Chicony Camera Assistant Software

    4. The next step, following components must be upgraded on Windows Vista, before you start the upgrade to Windows 7
      • Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba
      • TOSHIBA Fingerprint Utility
      • TOSHIBA HDD Protection
      • TOSHIBA RAID Driver

    5. If you have uninstalled and updated the drivers listed above, please insert the Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade DVD, start the setup and follow the instructions on the screen, till the upgrade is finished.

    6. Now you have upgraded your System to Windows 7 and you can install the new Versions of the Software which are listed under point 2 and all other available updates that you can download on the Toshiba Driver download page.     7. The Upgrade should be done now and you can use your new Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System on your Toshiba notebook.
