The Bluetooth connection setup is finished.

4. Install a PS3 Bluetooth Remote Application

(The PS3 Bluetooth Remote Application is not a Toshiba software. So installing it is your own risk. Consider a backup before you start so that you can restore your data if s.th. went wrong)

We need a program which can translate the transmitted commands to specific actions. We have used the PS3 Bluetooth Remote Application which was found on the following website:
http://www.benbarron.com/applications
Restart the computer after the installation has been completed.

Remark:
Windows XP users need to install the .NET framework which can be downloaded here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/confirmation.aspx?familyId=333325fd-ae52-4e35-b531-508d977d32a6&displayLang=en

Start the PS3 Remote Application. An according icon will appear in the system tray.

Windows Media Center:
In order to remote control Windows Media Center just press the PS3 button on your PS3 Remote control.

Windows Media Center will start and can be controlled by the PS3 remote control.

Windows Media Player:

A configuration window will be shown as follows:

Now adjust the buttons to the keyboard action of your application (in our case the Windows Media Player).
You can do this by a double click on the according remote row.
Let's assume we want to modify the keyboard action of the Stop button.

Double click on the suitable row.
A configuration window will be shown as follows:

Assign the suitable keyboard key combination. In our case we have to unselect the Shift key option. Now save it. You can find the used key combinations for the MS Media Player on the following website:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/keyboard_shortcuts/player10.mspx

Adjust all other keys as well.
Now close the configuration window and save the new settings.

Other applications:
It's the same procedure as described above just assign according key combinations which suit to your application.

6. Remote control your application

Make sure that the Bluetooth stack is up and running.
You should see a blue/white  (Bluetooth in idle mode) or blue/green (Bluetooth in use) Bluetooth icon in the system tray.

Make sure that your application which should be remote controlled was launched.

For instance start the Microsoft Windows Media Player.

Make sure that the PS3 Bluetooth Remote Application is up and running.
You should see the according icon in the system tray.

Press a button on your remote control and the application (Windows Media Player) should act accordingly.
The Bluetooth system tray icon turns to blue/green.
